CBSE Compartment exams 2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently announced that the compartment exams will be administered for classes 10 and 12 and students have raised their voices against it. Several students have called for intervention by the Supreme Court in this CBSE decision. Students also cited examples of the Bihar and Telangana boards as they canceled all their exams due to the country ‘s growing cases of coronavirus.

Students Approached the SC: In the light of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 809 students approached the Supreme Court with the petition to cancel this year’s CBSE Compartment Exams 2020.

Health Risk of Compartment Exams: The petition was submitted on behalf of the students by Sandeep Saurav, the National Secretary General of All India Students’ Association. He outlined in the petition how conducting exams in the midst of a global pandemic could lead to significant health risks.

The petition was filed in the Supreme Court after this year’s social media was overwhelmed with students expressing their concerns about the conduct of compartment exams. The board has not declared a fixed date for the CBSE Compartment Exams 2020 yet.

Reports: There were as many as 1, 50,198 Class X students, and 87,651 Class XII students put for compartment exams. Compartment inspections are normally carried out in July, but this year they are postponed due to the continuing pandemic of Covid-19.

The board confirmed that the students’ safety is the top priority, and the examination dates will be released after consultation with the Ministry of Education and Home Affairs. Students have asked SC to take into account the cases of Covid-19 in our country and to keep these exams until the situation is stabilized and students are safe to appear for exams.
